Riviera Maya, Q.R. — A 75-year-old woman reported missing was found alive after spending the night in the jungle. The woman went missing from her home in the
community of Nuevo Noh Bec Monday.
Her family said she left home around 5:00 p.m. but failed to return. They requested search assistance from local authorities who gathered personnel from Civil Protection.
Members of the fire department, public security, and National Defense also participated in the search. They deployed coordinated patrols along roads and through jungle areas until they found her.
Authorities reported locating her in jungle around 8:00 a.m. Tuesday.
The woman, who has a hearing and speech impairment, was found disoriented, with signs of dehydration, injuries, and multiple insect bites.
Red Cross paramedics provided medical care prior to being transported to a local hospital.
