Puerto Morelos qualifies for its first Blue Flag beach

Puerto Morelos, Q.R. — Puerto Morelos will be part of the new Blue Flag beaches awarded July 1 with their first at Ventana al Mar.

Mayor Laura Fernandez Piña said that qualifying the beach was an effort that took more than two years. She says now that Puerto Morelos has a Blue Flag beach, it will help to position itself as a sustainable destination.

“In this municipality, the youngest of Quintana Roo, we have worked for more than two years to get this certification that helps us continue to position ourselves as a sustainable destination in world tourism and commits us even more to double efforts in favor of the environment environment,” she explained.

She said it was a challenge she set for Puerto Morelos, to qualify for a Blue Flag.

“July 1 will be a historic day for all Puerto Morelos people because we will raise the first Blue Flag flag that recognizes us as a safe public beach with world quality standards and that places us in an environment of global competitiveness,” she added.

With this certification, tourists are guaranteed that Playa Ventana al Mar is a protected site of natural resources, quality and sustainability.

Ventana al Mar is one of the newly qualified beaches around Quintana Roo for the Blue Flag certification that will be raised July 1.
