Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A new police patrol unit and a motorcycle met at a Playa del Carmen intersection Sunday, leaving the driver of the motorcycle with injuries.
The collision happened in the afternoon in the Villas del Sol subdivision. According to witnesses, the police patrol was advancing along the Búhos Avenue when they crossed Cigüeñas Avenue without lights or a horn warning. However, the General Directorate of Public Safety of Solidaridad reported that the police unit was attending to a distress call with lights and turret on when the collision occurred.
The two met inside the intersection which resulted in the motorcycle crashing into the side of the police truck. The sole rider of the motorcycle was not seriously hurt and was treated for his injuries.
