Akumal, Q.R. — A Sunday afternoon drug bust in the seaside resort of Akumal left police holding nearly 100 packages of narcotics. The bust was part of a coordinated operation between the Police of Tulum and Quintana Roo, along with Sedena, Semar and the National Guard.
The seizure was made around 1:15 p.m. after they were successful in locating the heavily packaged drugs inside black plastic fruit containers. The removal of the packages of narcotics was supervised by Oscar Aparicio Avendaño, the director of Security and Transit in Tulum.
Details about the operation, their findings and exact location of the operation were not provided. The drugs have since been transferred to the FGE office in Cancun.
