Akumal, Q.R. — Police say a criminal cell member involved in drug trafficking has been arrested in Akumal. The SSC (Secretary of Citizen Security) says Kevin Adrián “N” was arrested Friday.

“Patrolling members of the Centurion Group and the Canine Unit with dog Africa from the SSC (Secretaría de Seguridad Ciudadana), noticed a man handling several small, clear plastic bags containing a green, dried herb resembling marijuana,” they said.

During an inspection, police found over 100 bags of narcotics that included marijuana and crystal methamphetamine.

At that time, police say Kevin Adrián “N” was taken into legal custody by authorities on Xaak Street between Punta Cancún Street and Punta Allen Street, in the town of Akumal.

“The detainee is part of a criminal cell linked to drug dealing in Akumal. Members of the Mexican Navy, the National Guard and the Ministry of National Defense also participated in the arrest,” the agency reported in a statement.
