Police drug operations in Akumal successful with 11 jailed

Akumal, Q.R. — A total of 11 people were transferred to Tulum for processing after a series of police drug operations in Akumal. Police made the arrests during three separate busts along the costal area.

In a public notice, the Secretario de Seguridad Pública (SSP) reported that “members of the GrupoQroo arrested 11 people in different actions in possession of marijuana (…) the 11 detainees are allegedly linked to the purchase and sale of illicit substances at retail in the municipality of Tulum.”

During the busts, more than 200 bags of pot was seized in the coastal area of Akumal. The operation was carried out by elements of the Municipal Police of Tulum, the Mexican Army, Semar, the National Guard, Quintana Roo Police and the State Attorney General’s Office.
