Police arrest man believed connected to two Cancun murders

Cancun, Q.R. — A man has been taken into custody in central Cancun after a warrant for his arrest was issued by a local judge for his suspected involvement in two city murders.

The man, identified as 37-year-old Luis Miguel G.R., was arrested outside a supermarket by federal police in the vicinity of the city’s center. They say that Luis Miguel, who goes by the name El Pelón, is also accused of belonging to a criminal group.

Originally from Veracruz, Luis Miguel is suspected in the deaths of two members of the Mexican Navy in Cancun last September.

His arrest was completed with support from members of the Mexican army and navy. He has been handed over to the state attorney’s office where he will be put before a judge.
