Akumal, Q.R. — A report of a pedestrian hit and run Wednesday night was made by witnesses to the highway accident. An adult male was struck by a vehicle and left for dead in the middle of the highway outside Akumal.
The report was made at 8:40 p.m. with police and paramedics arriving to find the man already deceased. He was found laying face down with severe head and body trauma.
National Guard highway patrol were called in to help monitor traffic while police collected what evidence they could and the medical examiner removed the body. The driver responsible did not stop. An arrest has not been announced.
