Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — A fire consumed the palapa of a popular Playa del Carmen restaurant during the early morning hours of Tuesday.
The fire was reported by neighbors around 3:00 a.m. when they saw flames shooting out from the grass roof. Police and fire personnel arrived on scene and were able to control the scene and extinguish the flames, however, the palapa had already burned, leaving only the frame.
The fire happened at La Barracuda located on 28 de Julio.
Witnesses reported seeing two men dressed in black enter the area and cause the fire, however, the night watchmen says he didn’t see anything. An official cause of the fire remains unknown.
