Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — Two islanders making off with golf cart batteries have been tracked down and arrested. Isla Mujeres police said thanks to surveillance cameras, the battery thieves have been caught.
At least two golf cart batteries were reported stolen from carts on Friday night. Police said the thieves made off with the batteries around 10:00 p.m. on Mojarra Street. The owner of the dead golf carts reported the battery theft the next day.

On Saturday afternoon, police located one of the thieves traveling the island on his motorcycle. He was intercepted shortly after noon on Rayador Street and arrested.
Police said both golf cart batteries were recovered and waiting for return to the owner.
“Thanks to monitoring by the C2 Command and Control Center, two individuals were located who are allegedly responsible for the theft of two golf cart batteries,” Policía de Isla Mujeres reported.
“The theft occurred yesterday at 10:00 p.m. on Mojarra Street, between Pámpano and Sierra de la Gloria.
“As a result of the operation, today at 12:15 p.m., on Rayador Street in the Cañotal neighborhood, the driver of a motorcycle, one of the suspects, was apprehended and turned over to the appropriate authorities.

“The batteries were recovered and are awaiting their owner. We continue working every day for the safety of Isla Mujeres.”
