Pair alleged responsible for murder of Chetumal woman captured in Cancun

Chetumal, Q.R. — A man and a woman believed responsible for the murder of a Chetumal taxi driver have been arrested in Cancun. The pair were apprehended by authorities Wednesday.

On Thursday, the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) of Quintana Roo reported on their arrests. According to the agency statement, Sairi “S” and Luis “V” were arrested “for their probable participation in the crime of femicide that occurred in the city of Chetumal on December 28, 2022, against a victim of initials LGPC.”

In a press conference, FGE head Óscar Montes de Oca explained that after the discovery of her body, an investigation lead police to learn that “the now-deceased was hired by her victimizers, whom she already knew, to carry out activities associated with a cult.”

Montes de Oca went on to say that “one of the detainees went to the victim’s home in order to transfer her to the place where she would carry out this practice, where she was deprived of her life, to later leave the body in the Zazil-Há neighborhood, where it was located.”

According to Montes de Oca, after the murder, both Sairi “S” and Luis “V” relocated to Cancun. They were located and apprehended January 4 using the city’s surveillance system.
