Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — A Puerto Juarez fishing boat with over 100 kilos of poached fish has been seized. Federal inspectors located the boat Thursday off the mainland of Isla Mujeres with two fishermen on board.

The Mexican Navy, through the Fifth Naval Region, reported that Thursday, naval personnel seized a vessel with fishery product in Isla Mujeres, Quintana Roo. The seizure was made in coordination with members of the National Aquaculture and Fisheries Commission (Conapesca).
“This action followed a routine inspection by naval and Conapesca personnel of a small fishing vessel whose crew lacked the required permits,” they reported in a statement.
As a result, approximately 100 kilograms of amberjack, 10 kilograms of snapper and six kilograms of red snapper were seized, along with the vessel itself.

The two men on board were taken into custody and placed at the disposal of the appropriate authorities.
