New sports facility inaugurated for town of Akumal

Akumal, Q.R. — A new sports facility has been inaugurated in the town of Akumal. On Wednesday, Tulum Mayor Diego Castañón Trejo delivered the new facilities that include a baseball field, soccer field and dome.

During the inaguration, Castañón Trejo pointed out that the project cost over 3.4 million pesos and was a years-old request of town residents.

“We are an administration committed to sports and the community. I listened to them and told them I am going to fulfill the request. And here we are delivering these facilities that belong to you, to the athletes, to the boys, to the girls, to all those who live in Akumal, a community that I am very fond of and will continue to serve,” he said.

The director of Tulum Public Works Monitoring, Santos Hipólito Tuz Chi, explained that this project benefits 2,154 residents and that the 3.4 million used to construct the facility came from Contribution Fund for Municipal Social Infrastructure and the Territorial Demarcations of the Federal District (FAISMUN).
