More than 4.6 million cruise passengers visited Cozumel in 2024

Cozumel, Q.R. — The island of Cozumel received more than 4.6 million cruise passengers on over 1,200 ships in 2024. According to the Comprehensive Port Administration of Quintana Roo (Apiqroo), 1,281 cruise ships transporting 4,623,000 passengers docked the island last year.

Apiqroo General Director Vagner Elbiorn Vega reported that by the end of 2024 Cozumel had consolidated itself as the main cruise destination in the Caribbean, with an 11 percent increase in the arrival of cruise ships and a 13 percent increase in the flow of passengers.

This increase translates into 125 cruise ships and 533,946 more passengers than in 2023.

“This growth reflects not only the confidence of international shipping companies in our destination, but also the commitment of all sectors to offer quality experiences to the tourists who visit us,” said Elbiorn Vega.

He added that these achievements are the result of the vision of Governor Mara Lezama, who under the strategy of the new era of tourism, has prioritized sustainability, economic diversification and the improvement of port infrastructure.
