More than 3.4 million being invested in Akumal baseball field

Tulum, Q.R. — More than 3.4 million pesos are being invested in a revamped baseball field for Akumal. On Wednesday, the municipal mayor of Tulum, Diego Castañón Trejo, announced the project.

During his announcement, he said an improved baseball field has recently become a frequent request by the residents of Akumal.

“We said we were going to come back and here we are. We are back in Akumal to start this projecct that is for all of you. Promoting sports is essential for me and today, with the great team of the Tulum City Hall, I am fulfilling a commitment to you,” he said during the project inaguration.

According Castañón, just over 3.4 million pesos from Branch 33 (FAISMUN) will be allocated to the revamp project that is expected to be complete by the beginning of October.

The 90-day rehabilitation schedule involves improvement of the existing dome and stands, the reconstruction of the baseball field, construction of a perimeter fence and the 3-meter-high ball bounce fence.
