Chetumal, Q.R. — More than 240 new cases of covid-19 were recorded around the state in one day. Governor Carlos Joaquin reported the high figure after explaining that until now, most days reported only 12 to 16 new cases.
He said that in a 24-hour period, more than 240 new cases were reported around the state of Quintana Roo, and while he didn’t provide numbers on which municipalities had the cases, he did stress the importance of people wearing masks.
He said that since the beginning of the pandemic, state and federal health authorities have maintained permanent monitoring of the risk of contagion, which allows decisions to be made to prevent the spread of the virus.
In this sense, and according to the increase in cases, the governor is urging people to continue using face masks, practice frequent hand washing and keep a healthy distance.
On social media the governor posted, “the covid-19 cases in Quintana Roo continue to rise. Today we had +240 positive cases; before we had days with 12 or 16 cases. If you work in customer service or are in a closed space, wear a mask!”
Municipal health officials in Isla Mujeres are also reminding people to continue with covid-19 health practices such as wearing a mask and healthy distance after a spike in infections.
