Mahahual, Q.R. — A report of a floating package by the harbor master at Mahahual has led to the discovery of drugs by the Mexican navy.
Crew members from the Navy of Mexico were sent to retrieve a floating package that was spotted by Mahahual’s harbor master. Navy personnel from the Tenth Naval Zone set out to perform maritime patrol and surveillance as well as look for additional packages.
From the call, they found 10 packages of marijuana floating at sea near a beach at Mahahual. Each package weighed approximately 1.5 kilos. The drugs were sent to the Public Ministry of the Federation of the City of Chetumal.
One package of marijuana was also seized from a Cancun beach on the same day. Police found a large pacakage of drugs washed up on Playa Delfines in the Cancun Hotel Zone. That package weighed 2.4 kilos.
Earlier in the week, several packages of marijuana were found on two Playa del Carmen beaches, also on the same day.
