Military discovers seven-section drug lab in Quintana Roo jungle

Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Q.R. — Elements of the army dismantled a synthetic drug lab after arresting four men. The operation took place Thursday near the town of Andrés Quintana Roo in the municipality of Felipe Carrillo Puerto.

Police located the jungle drug lab about 12 kilometers from the Mayan community of around 450 people after a series of surveillance operations.

Through a statement, the Secretary of National Defense (Sedena) announced that in a joint operation with National Guard, they located the lab where they found dozens of different sized metal and plastic drums both empty and filled.

They also found  bags of white powder, lead smelters, caustic soda, water tanks, buckets, scales, strainers, a glass bubble and a distillation tube. The items were found distributed between seven areas.

From the scene, four men were arrested. Their three cell phones and two motorcycles were seized as evidence.
