Mexico receives second batch of AstraZeneca vaccines from U.S.

Mexico City, Mexico — A second shipment of AstraZeneca vaccines from the United States arrived in Mexico City Thursday night. The shipment is the second of two shipments sent by US President Joe Biden to Mexico.

The batch of 1,208,700 doses of AstraZeneca landed in Mexico City from Chicago and is the last of the 2.7 million vials sent in a cooperative agreement with the United States.

The vaccines were received by personnel from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the National System for the Distribution of Medical Supplies of Laboratorios de Biológicos y Reactivos de México and the United States Embassy in Mexico.

With this latest shipment, Mexico has received more than 14.6 million doses of covid vaccines from Pfizer, AstraZeneca, Sinovac, Cansino and Sputnik V. The federal government has not detailed how the latest shipment will be distributed.
