Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — Marina personnel escorted an island man to the mainland Saturday night as part of a lockup transfer. The jailed man was transferred from the island to Puerto Juarez by Mexican Navy personnel at the request of island police.

The transfer was made through the Fifth Naval Region who provided support to the Isla Mujeres Public Security Directorate with the transfer of a “suspected lawbreaker.”
According to the Secretaría de Marina “this action was taken after receiving a call requesting assistance, prompting the immediate dispatch of an Interceptor Patrol Boat from this Naval Command to transport the individual to Puerto Juarez,” they reported Sunday.
“It should be noted that at the time of his arrest, he was informed of his legal rights and turned over to the appropriate authorities by Public Security personnel to continue with the corresponding procedures and determine his legal status.”
Police did not say what he was accused of.
