Cozumel, Q.R. — Members of the Mexican Navy have reported the rescue of a person who was adrift north of Cozumel.
La Secretaría de Marina-Armada de México says the rescue was made Monday evening when they were alerted to a 911 emergency call that someone was considered lost at sea.
Naval personnel of the Marine Search, Rescue and Surveillance Station made their way to the north end of the island where they found a lone person stranded. They report that the boat had taken on water and was beginning to sink due to high waves and that the engine had failed.
The rescue mission was made at Playa Barracuda, north of Cozumel. Upon reaching land, the person was found to be in good health.
