Cozumel, Q.R. — A tourist who is believed to have died of natural causes was found inside a centrally located hotel in Cozumel Tuesday.
The body of an unidentified male was discovered by hotel staff who called Emergency 911. Ministerial Police arrived along with a forensic medical examiner who determined the man had likely been dead for 48 hours before being found.
Commander Armando Pérez Pérez clarified that the body was lying on the left side and had no visible signs of violence when discovered. The deceased has only been identified as a non-Mexican male around 40 years of age.
Forensic Medical Service personnel ruled out any criminal act, since the death was likely due to natural causes, likely a cardiac arrest. The deceased man was transferred to SEMEFO facilities. His family has been notified to claim the body.
