Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — Two ATMs at different areas along 30th Avenue were found opened during the early morning hours with one of the machines being completely emptied of its cash.
One of the opened ATMs was discovered at a Banorte bank located at 30th Avenue and 14th Street in the city’s center. Ministerial Police obtained security footage that recorded a male breaking into the machine.
The second opened ATM was found at Mega Comercial Mexicana also along 30th Avenue, however, the cash was still inside.
Reports say that this is similar to a machine break-in attempt in Cozumel only the day before and is likely same person committing the crime. The person in the video has yet to be identified by police.
