Letters to the Editor: I won’t be back and will let everyone I know not to visit this place!

We took a once in a lifetime trip to Cancun to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. We took a sunset cruise including snorkeling over to Isla Mujeres through Xcaret. The snorkeling was awesome except they should have given a little direction once in the water for us newbies.

But then they brought us to Isla Mujeres which we came to find out afterwards was a rip-off. They brought us into the gift shop including “T********s” Jewelry Store.

The young man in the gift shop played the role of “I was your waiter last night” and this is my uncle’s jewelry store. They claimed real diamonds, stones, silver, gold. So convincing. Well, they swindled us out of our hard-earned money.

When I got back to the States I had the ring we bought appraised. Come to find out the ring was not worth a fraction of what we paid for it even after ****** them down.

Now, I can’t get ahold of the jewelry store. I guess no phone number or even an actual address. I want my money back! If that is the way they treat guests, you can guarantee I won’t be back and will let everyone I know (and don’t even know) not to visit this place!

*The writer did not provide any receipts to prove what she paid versus her appraisal (to show she had been “ripped off”) so the jewelry shop was not named.

**Due to comments regarding the writer’s use of a derogatory term, that term has since been removed. We try to keep letters to the editor original “as sent”, but that is not always possible.
