Judge sentences two to 20 years in Cozumel attempted murder case

Cozumel, Q.R. — The Attorney General of the State of Quintana Roo reports that prosecutors were successful in obtaining a conviction of 20 years and 10 months in prison for Roberto S and Oswaldo S for the crime of attempted murder.

The FGE reports that on June 10, 2019, the now prosecuted were inside a vehicle outside a mechanical workshop on Miguel Borges Avenue in Cozumel when the victim, C.J.T.M. arrived on board a motorcycle.

The waiting pair got out of their car and opened fire on the victim, causing multiple life-threatening injuries. The pair then fled. They were captured several hours later by municipal and state police.

A judge sentenced the pair to 20 years and 10 months in prison and imposed a fine of 105,000 peso each.
