Cozumel, Q.R. — A Cozumel beach club owner was killed early Monday in a single vehicle island accident. The male driver of a motorcycle died after crashing into palm trees.
Island police along with the coroner were at the scene early Monday morning in the northern hotel zone of Cozumel. The accident happened at kilometer 4.2 of the coastal highway where the male driver lost control of his bike.
According to preliminary information from authorities, the man was riding a white Harley Davidson motorcycle and lost control due to excessive speed.
The loss of control caused him to violently crash into two palm trees in central median of the road. Paramedics confirmed the instant death of the driver, Roberto “N”.
His female passenger, Martha “N”, was seriously injured and transferred to hospital.
Authorities continue their investigation into the official cause of the fatal single vehicle motorcycle accident.
