Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — A fire in an Isla Mujeres marina completely destroyed two small buildings behind the secondary technical school.
The fire was reported around 4:00 p.m. Tuesday at a marina near Patria y Progreso. Personnel from the fire department along with members of the Secretariat of the Navy of Mexico arrived to put out the flames, which consumed two cabins that were located behind the Benito Juárez secondary technical school.
Fishermen and neighbors were first to the scene in an attempt to quelch flames, however, the fire continued on to burn both buildings. Fortunately, flames did not reach a nearby catamaran.
Damages are still being tallied. There were no reports of human injuries.
