Indian national arrested after discovery of 47 Indians locked inside Cancun hostel

Cancun, Q.R. — A 26-year-old Indian national has been arrested in Cancun in relation to the recent discovery of 47 people found locked inside a hostel. Cancun authorities have released information on Dhrambir “X”, who they report was arrested during the rescue of the 46 men and one woman found being held against their will Monday night.

Elements of the Cancun Municipal Secretary of Public Security, under the command of IM Lieutenant Commander José Pablo Mathey Cruz, rescued 47 immigrants from India in SM 22 in response to an anonymous report.

During that rescue, Cancun Police say they also “managed to arrest a male of the same nationality who identified himself as Dhrambir “X”, 26 years old.”

“The immigrants were located from a report to the 911 emergency number in which they warned of the presence of immigrants in a small hostel on Margaritas Street.” they added.

The 47 immigrants were medically evaluated, treated in accordance with international protocols and transferred by personnel from the National Institute of Migration (INM) for the corresponding legal procedures.
