Hotel security footage used to capture second Cancun Hotel Zone shooter

Cancun, Q.R. — Another suspect in the October 2 Cancun Hotel Zone beach shooting behind the RIU has been captured. Police have announced the arrest of Jesús “N”, “accused of his probable participation in the crime of aggravated homicide on Kukulcán Boulevard of Cancun.”

In their report, Cancun authorities say the suspect is a related member of the recently dismantled criminal group of Zacarías “N”, alias “Skiny”. Three members of that group were arrested on October 17 in the city of Merida and returned to Cancun to face charges.

The leader, Zacarías “N”, was the person ordering the deadly hits of other known gang members in the Cancun Hotel Zone.

On Friday, Cancun authorities said Jesús “N” was arrested from the street in the Kusamil subdivision of Cancun by elements of the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Homicide Crimes, the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSyPC) and the National Anti-Kidnapping Commission (Conase).

“The events in which he would be related occurred on October 2 of this year, on a beach at kilometer 8.5 of the Kukulcán Boulevard when Jesús “N” and another person arrived at the place by sea on a jet ski.

Two men are seen arriving at the adjacent beach area onboard jet skis.
Within minutes of arriving they are seen running toward their target with guns drawn.

“Field, office and technological investigations, as well as the review of video surveillance cameras, establish that the now detained person, along with another person, arrived at an area adjacent to the scene of the events where they left the jet skis,” police said.

The armed pair were seen on hotel security footage staking out the area around 11:30 a.m. before heading to their target in the next beach over. Security cameras capture a group of beachgoers flee the sand when they see the two men running with drawn weapons.

People on the beach flee when they see guns and hear shots being fired.

Both men ran to the neighboring property where they shot dead their male target. Then are then seen running toward their jet skis where they made a successful getaway.

Security cameras capture the pair running for their waiting jet skis.

The jet skis were found abandoned in the Costa Mujeres area of the Continental Zone of Isla Mujeres.

According to the Cancun police report, the jet skis used are the property of an established company. One employee from that company, Melvin Eli “N”, was arrested and is facing charges of qualified homicide for knowingly providing the transportation used to arrive and flee deadly murder scene.
