Man who provided getaway jet ski in Cancun beach shooting arrested

Cancun, Q.R. — Another person related to the recent shooting death of a man in the Cancun Hotel Zone has been arrested. On Monday, Melvin Eli “N” was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant.

He was wanted in connection with the deadly October 2 shooting behind the Riu hotel for providing the getaway jet ski. On October 2, two armed men approached another man behind the hotel where they shot him before fleeing on a jet ski.

Melvin Eli “N” has been arrested for providing that jet ski, which according to authorities, was property of the company he worked for. In a statement, Cancun Police said Melvin Eli “N” is looking at homicide charges.

“Personnel from the State Attorney General’s Office complied with an arrest warrant against a male person for his alleged participation in acts that could constitute the crime of qualified homicide.

“The now detained is identified as Melvin Eli “N”. The events for which he is accused occurred on October 2 of this year when he provided a jet ski, property of the company he worked for, to the subjects who took the life of a man on Kukulcán Boulevard.

“It was on board said vehicle that the hitmen fled after shooting at a person who was related to drug dealing crimes in the municipality of Benito Juárez.”

Melvin Eli “N” was arrested by Investigative Police and admitted into the Social Reintegration Center of Cancun.
