Tihosuco, Q.R. — An unidentified woman was shot to death inside her Tihosuco home early Thursday by armed men who fled. The targeted shooting happened around 5:00 a.m. when the men are reported to have stormed her home before opening fire.
Police were sent to the corner of 15th and 22nd Streets of the small town’s center after neighbor reports of gun shots.
Paramedics from the nearest town in the municipality of Felipe Carrillo Puerto drove the 80 kilometers to the scene of the shooting only to pronounced the woman as dead after being discovered laying face down in the living room of her home.
Neighbor witnesses told police they saw several men enter the house and flee in two vehicles. According to preliminary information, it was the second time armed men had try to assassinate the woman.
In December of 2022, the same woman was shot at but not injured, which has lead authorities to speculate the possibility of her involvement in a criminal rival group. Police have not named the woman.
