Akumal, Q.R. — Municipal Police from Tulum were successful in preventing an armed group from taking over a privately owned coastal property in Akumal. The group of men were jailed on dispossession charges after police received a report of the armed men.
Elements of the Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection of Tulum responded to the emergency call for assistance after the group of five men arrived and attempted to take over the private property in Akumal Bay.
Agents who participated in the arrests proceeded to detain the men, one of whom was Ricardo M, a former security guard who was removed from his position last year. He was found in possession of two loaded weapons, a handgun and a long weapon.
Four others were also taken into custody who were believed to be part of the attempted dispossession. Also arrested was Iván “H” from Tabasco, Israel “C” from Mexico City, Yonathan “L” from Oaxaca and José “C” from Tabasco. All four men were found carrying black Boafeng communication radios.
