Government burns more than a ton of drugs in fight against trafficking

Chetumal, Q.R. — More than 1 ton of drugs have been incinerated by authorities at the military facilities in Chetumal.

The drug burn consisted of over 1 ton of cocaine that was confiscated through various operations in several points of the state. The narcotics were related to various preliminary investigations, criminal cases and investigation files as a result of assurances carried out in the municipality of Othón P. Blanco by authorities that make up the Coordination Group in Quintana Roo, the General Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic, Federal Police, State Police, Municipal Police and the Secretariats of National Defense and Navy.

The destruction of the narcotics was under the control of the commander of the military zone in their permanent campaign against drug trafficking.

The incineration was held at the military training facilities of Xtomoc and was overseen by military personnel as well as members of the state government.
