Good Samaritan rescues wandering dog lost in PDC highway rollover

Playa del Carmen, Q.R. — The owner of a dog lost in a recent accident outside Playa del Carmen has been reunited with her pet. On Wednesday, the woman’s car overturned after being rear ended by a cargo truck.

The accident took place around 12 kilometers north of the city along a section of the federal highway. The private car was left on its roof in the ditch of the side of the highway. The female driver was not seriously injured, however, her dog was no longer in the car with her. It is believed dachshund Chety became frightened during the rollover and ran off.

The dog was found later that same day by a passing motorist wandering in the ditch where the car had rolled over. The Good Samaritan, a young man, stopped and picked up the dog. He brought it to an animal shelter in Playa del Carmen where staff worked to locate the owner.

The woman has since been reunited with her dog Chety. On social media, she expressed her gratitude at the good Samaritan who helped return her missing dog. “Miracles do exist! Thank you to this kind-hearted boy. Today, Chety and his family are happy.”
