Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — Two poachers were shot by an unknown subject that left one dead.
Two fishermen who were allegedly poaching, were shot at on the Continental mainland of Isla Mujeres at Isla Blanca while they were placing nets in the water. One of the men was hit in the neck, while the second ran for help uninjured.
Police arrived at Los Cocos beach area where they found the injured fisherman. He died on scene.
According to preliminary reports, the fishermen crossed the sandy area around 8:00 p.m. when they were shot at by unknown subjects. Elements of the Police of Quintana Roo arrived as did an ambulance, however, the shot man no longer had vital signs.
Due to the darkness, the surviving fishermen as unable to see the shooter.
