Isla Mujeres, Q.R. — Cancun firefighters were called to a large brush fire on the municipal mainland Wednesday. According to Isla Mujeres city hall, the fire broke out in the Mar de Cristal neighborhood.

“We promptly responded to a brush and trash fire in the Mar de Cristal neighborhood in the mainland area of Isla Mujeres.
“Thanks to the rapid intervention of the Municipal Civil Protection and Fire Department, as well as the collaborative work with Public Safety, General Services, volunteers, Grupo Alfa, Cancun Fire Department and support water trucks, it was possible to control this emergency and prevent further damage,” Ayuntamiento de Isla Mujeres reported.
The fire happened Wednesday morning on the mainland. Emergency personnel were on scene for several hours extinguishing flames. A cause for the fire is not known.
“We urge the public not to burn trash or dump waste in illegal dumps, as these practices endanger health, the environment, and the safety of families,” City Hall added.
