Akumal, Q.R. — The Attorney General of the State of Quintana Roo reports that Investigative and State Police have recovered two properties in the town of Akumal that had experienced ongoing invasions since March. In a press release, the Attorney General says the two blocks of recovered land were located in SM 1 of the town.
The FGE reports that dozens of people had settled on the land lots since March, which is when the first complaint was filed by Agencia de Proyectos Estratégicos del Estado de Quintana Roo (AGEPRO), legal owners of one of the blocks of land.
However, on June 15, another complaint was filed as a group of approximately 40 people were reintroduced to the premises despite the fact that there were surveillance personnel. Once inside the grounds, they subdivided the land into lots and placed pieces of cardboard with the names of those who were supposed to occupy them.
The Public Ministry ordered the FGE to carry out the act of investigation on both properties, which ended in peaceful evictions.
The property was secured and closure stamps were placed to continue the investigation against the people who have incited and deceived others to carry out the dispossession. These alleged leaders will be summoned to the public ministry for their participation in the illegal acts.
During this operation, another piece of land belonging to an individual was also recovered and will be returned to its rightful owner.
