Federal police escort woman from Cozumel to Cancun for investigation into CJNG ties

Cozumel, Q.R. — Federal police arrested a woman from the island of Cozumel reported to be CJNG cartel-connected. The woman was taken into custody during an operation by the Criminal Investigation Agency of the Attorney General of the Republic (FGR).

Federal officials raided the Cozumel home Thursday. February 26, 2026.

Her arrest was made inside a house on 25th Avenue between 55th and 10th Street South in the San Miguel I neighborhood. She has been identified as (approximately) 30 year old Aida “N”.

She was escorted by federal authorities to the Cozumel ferry terminal and taken to the mainland at Playa del Carmen for her transfer to the FGR facilities in Cancun.

The San Miguel home where she lived has since been seized.

She was taken into custody during a Thursday raid by FGR personnel in search of cartel members. Aida “N” was reported arrested for drug-related offences during that raid.

Sources say police seized cocaine and crystal meth from inside the house at the time of the operation. The woman in custody is being investigated for her possible connection to a Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) leader on the island of Cozumel.
