Federal government claims another 10 Riviera Maya properties for Maya Train use

Riviera Maya, Q.R. — Another 10 private properties are being claimed by the government for Maya Train use. On Friday, the federal government published another declaration of public utility in the DOF for 10 properties in the municipalities of Tulum and Felipe Carrillo Puerto.

The declaration was published in the Diario Oficial de la Federación (DOF) which specifies the 185,000 square meters of land between the 10 properties will be used for the Maya Train.

The land will be set aside to build infrastructure associated with the Maya Train project. The decree also specifies that the filing of any means of defense will not suspend the indicated occupation of the properties. Property owners will be compensated as long as they prove legitimate ownership.

Earlier in December, the federal government expropriated 290 private properties in the Costa Maya region of the state for Maya Train use.
