Elderly father of criminal leader gunned down outside Cozumel mini super

Cozumel, Q.R. — A man executed in Cozumel Friday night has been identified as the father of a criminal leader. The elderly man was gunned down outside a mini-super convenience store around 9:00 p.m.

According to authorities, the deceased is the father of José “C,” alias “Cotorro,” the alleged leader of an island criminal group.

The targeted shooting happened outside a mini-super store on Adolfo Rosado Salas Street between 75th and 80th Avenues in the Flores Magón neighborhood.

Police arrived to find 61 year old José Miguel “C” dead on the sidewalk. He had been shot several times.

State police arrived as first responders along with soldiers from the Military Garrison who cordoned off the area.

Four bullet casings found on the ground were collected as evidence. So far, no arrests have been reported.
