Akumal, Q.R. — The body of a man in his mid-30s was found near Akumal Thursday. The body was discovered by a passerby around 5:00 a.m. near a work site.
Police responded to the report along the federal highway where they found the man had been shot in the head. Near his body was a hand written message referring to organized crime, believed left behind by those responsible.
The man was not shot at the site where he was found since police did not find evidence to suggest he was. It is believed he was dumped in the area after being killed someplace else. Police have not made a public statement on the finding.
