Driver topples truck and spills load shutting road nearly 3 hours

Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Q.R. — Highway traffic was at a standstill Wednesday due to a rolled dump truck. The driver of the industrial truck rolled his vehicle, spilling a load of gravel and blocking both lanes.

Authorities were at the scene of the single vehicle accident for nearly three hours Wednesday. The position of the felled truck left it completely blocking lanes in both directions.

Police and National Guard moved cars from highway 295 while the site was cleared of the load of spilled gravel. The accident happened approximately 10 kilometers from the town of Felipe Carrillo Puerto.

No serious injuries were reported in the accident, The driver reportedly suffered a few scrapes and bruises. National Guard did not comment on what caused the driver to lose his load and topple his dump truck.
