Dozing driver totals Tulum garbage truck heading for PDC

Riviera Maya, Q. R. — A Tulum garbage truck driver who is alleged to have fallen asleep behind the wheel ended up ditched. The driver of the city vehicle was heading to Playa del Carmen to unload his truck in the municipal landfill when the accident happened.

Authorities were called to the roadside incident around 7:00 a.m. where they located a relatively destroyed garbage truck.

While the driver suffered only minor abrasions, the garbage truck was not as lucky. The highway ditch in front of the truck is where the unit’s engine hood cover and two front tires came to a rest several meters away.

It is not clear what the driver hit along the way.
