Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Q.R. — A highway accident involving two vehicles is being blamed on a dozing driver. Early Monday morning, a bus and an SUV collided on a section of federal highway near the town of Felipe Carrillo Puerto.
The old-model bus was being used to transport a group of construction workers. It was around 6:00 a.m. when the SUV and bus crashed, sending both off the road and into highway shoulder brush.
According to early information, the driver of the SUV is alleged to have dozed at the wheel, crashing into the bus carrying the load of workers. Authorities found the accident site approximately 8 kilometers from the town of Felipe Carrillo Puerto.
Only the driver of the SUV suffered injuries. Workers from the bus were not injured. National Guard Highways were first on scene followed by an ambulance who assessed those involved.
