Cancun, Q.R. — A Cuban man has been arrested in the stabbing death of a woman he worked with at a Cancun bar. Cancun Police say José Antonio “N”, is being investigated for the death of the woman he once had a relationship with.
On Tuesday, police reported that José Antonio “N”, a Cuban national, resisted arrest while being taken into custody hours earlier.

“A woman was found at an establishment on Cancun Avenue with injuries caused by a sharp object. It was determined at the scene that both the victim and the now-detained man worked at the establishment and had a prior relationship,” police said in a report.
Paramedics confirmed that the victim, who was found inside La Hija de Cuauhtémoc early Tuesday morning, “has no vital signs as a result of her injuries.”
The pair were reported arguing in the kitchen when José Antonio “N” allegedly stabbed her several times using a knife. He then fled the bar on foot.
“As a result of surveillance and preventative patrols, Cancun Police officers located an individual matching the description of the man accused of inflicting those injuries,” police reported. At the time he was found, police said he had visible stains on his clothing.
“Upon being approached, he became aggressive, hurling insults and physically and verbally assaulting the officers. He was subsequently detained in accordance with police protocols,” they said.

Police in Cancun say they are investigating the murder of the woman from the bar “to determine the circumstances of the events and the detainee’s potential responsibility.” Police have not identified the victim.
