Cozumel, Q.R. — An island man accused of killing his wife and injuring her sister has been sentenced to 58 years. The State Attorney General (FGE) reported the 58 year and four months prison sentence for Jesús David Nah Argaez for femicide and aggravated injuries against two people.
His sentence is from a December 2023 incident when he hit hit wife in the head with a pressure clamp during an argument. When the sister-in-law attempted to intervene, she too, was hit. His wife died in hospital five days later.
A judge sentenced Jesús David Nah Argaez to 50 years in prison in the death of his wife and an additional eight years and four months for aggravated injuries
According to the FGE report, “the events that led to this conviction occurred on December 5, 2023, when Jesús David Nah Argaez was with his wife and her sister drinking alcoholic beverages at the home located on 80th Street in the Emiliano Zapata neighborhood of Cozumel.
“At some point, the now sentenced man received a phone call, which led him to start an argument with his wife and subsequently hit her on the head with a pressure clamp, causing her to lose consciousness.
“It was then that the victim’s sister approached and pushed him to prevent him from continuing to assault the woman, so he also hit her. Both women were taken to a hospital for medical attention, however, the wife of the now sentenced man died on December 10th from a traumatic brain injury resulting from the injuries he caused her.”

Aside from a prison sentence, Jesús David Nah Argaez must pay a fine of 331,968 pesos in addition to 1,037,200 pesos for material damages and 12,446.4 pesos for funeral expenses related to his wife.
For the crime of aggravated injuries, he was sentenced to generic material damages and moral damages in the amount of 9,000 pesos.
