Cozumel, Q.R. — A decomposing body was located Thursday during a second search after being reported by fishermen days before. The Thursday finding was the second attempt to locate the body reported floating in the sea.

Cozumel fishermen first reported seeing the body floating in the sea last week. Authorities did look but were not able to locate it until Thursday when it was seen for a second time.
A passerby spotted the body around 12:30 p.m. off Playa Barracuda. The hard-to-access area was reached by emergency responders on foot who met the recovery boat.

An emergency rescue vessel from the Marina went out in search of the body, which was sucessfully located the second time around. The badly decomposing body, which was found naked, was wrapped and returned to shore where ermergency personnel were waiting with a stretcher.
The body was carried back to waiting vehicles.

Alfredo Arellano, the Director of Civil Protection, Firefighters and Lifeguards of Cozumel, says the body is that of a male between the ages of 25 and 30. His body was reported to 9-1-1 after being seen floating about three kilometers north of the Meliá hotel. By the time they reached it, it was located a little more than a kilometer from Playa Barracuda.
