Cozumel,Q.R. — With the support of more than 280 godparents contributing to the program, over 700 Cozumel children have better meals due to the School Breakfast Program.
The program was recently resumed after a two-year lag. Now, dozens of people and more than 700 kids benefit from the program. When relaunching the program, municipal president Pedro Joaquín Delbouis and his wife Mary Mar Abad de Joaquín, president of DIF Cozumel, stressed that this was possible with efforts of society.
In an emotional event, which brought together more than 500 people including sponsors and children, Pedro Joaquín stressed that this program was one of the most requested during his campaign tours and meetings with the people of Cozumel.
“Today we are fulfilling the request after the abandonment of the program. This day, we have the opportunity to meet the girls and boys who are part of the School Breakfast program with the certainty that we are contributing to better social development while strengthening their quality of life,” he emphasized.
The godparents were recognized since they are the ones who contribute to the children and called on the general population to join the program.
“Words can motivate smiles, but actions provide a more dignified life for girls, boys, adolescents and all Cozumel residents,” said the municipal head.
