Cozumel, Q.R. — Cozumel personnel are working on connecting the island with the Czech Republic. On Thursday, representatives of the state government and the private sector held a meeting with Jan Marek, Head of Contracting at DER Touristik CZ.

The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the possibility of creating an air connection that could connect Cozumel with the city of Prague, Czech Republic.
One of the guidelines of the current Cozumel government is to promote tourism through a range of attractions that can only be found on the island. These attractions include traditions and customs, international sporting events such as the GFNY and Ironman, natural beauty, gastronomy and the professionals services provided to visitors.
During the meeting, Jan Marek stressed the interest in making the connection project a reality, which he said depends on the capacity of rooms available for the winter season and the time of year when the air connection could be operational.
Marek said that Czech tourists are looking for culinary, historical and cultural experiences and natural beauty, with long stays. Cozumel representatives agreed that the island has all the requirements to receive a plane from Prague since its tourist vocation, history and infrastructure coincide with everything that Czechs look for during their holidays.
