Cozumel, Q.R. — Cozumel firemen were able to retrieve a cat from a tree after it was unable to climb down. On Monday, Civil Protection members of the Cozumel fire department rigged a ladder to reach the cat who was found stuck eight meters up.

Cat Mauu was reported stuck in the San Miguel I neighborhood tree by its owner Emilia “C”. Under the command of Inspector Manuel Arjona, firemen installed a double-section ladder to save Mauu.
In a statement, Civil Protection Cozumel said “members rescued Mauu, a cat from the San Miguel I neighborhood who was trapped in an 8-meter tree. He is now safe at home with his family thanks to the efforts of our team.
“We received a call for help from Mrs. Emilia Cocom, worried because her cat Mauu had climbed an 8-meter-high tree and could not get down.
“Immediately, operator Javier Ortiz, elements Remedios Córdova and Henry Briceño went in unit 736 towards the San Miguel Uno neighborhood. Under the command of Inspector Manuel Arjona, we installed a double-section ladder and with great care we managed to save Mauu, who was returned to the arms of his owner.

“During the rescue, Deputy Director Mariano Dzay and Director Alfredo Arellano were present. We know that animals are part of the family and at the Cozumel Fire Department we are here to help them. If you need support, do not hesitate to call us. Together we protect all lives! Mission accomplished! We rescued Mauu!”
